Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell joined CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Then, she became a Washington general reporter for NBC News two years later. From 1981 onwards she began covering the White House. In 1988, she became chief congressional reporter. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992. And chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. She was a member of an audience for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's terms as President. Her reporting included a number of crucial stories such as the Iran-Contra controversy, budget and tax reform in addition to the arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively together with President Reagan for summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
